The 1990s spawned some of the hottest actresses of our generation, many of whom continue to dominate the film and television industries. Women like Jennifer Aniston, Pamela Anderson, Halle Berry, Heidi Klum and Natalie Portman are still major forces in the industry, having retained their killer looks that contributed to their status as sex symbols during the 1990s.
Though many of these actresses, models, and singers have aged gracefully (if at all *coughGwenStefanicough*), there are just as many who have been unable to weather the sands of time, and the former bombshells now retain a shadow of their renowned beauty and glamour.
1. Yasmine Bleeth
Yasmine Bleeth rose to fame as Caroline Holden in the long-running action drama series ‘Baywatch’ as one of the lifeguards on duty. She was one of FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World and their US 100 Sexiest Women between 1996 and 2003, and she also made it to People’s 50 Most Beautiful People in 1995. She has since been battling a drug addiction.
2. Tia Carrere
Tia Carrere’s role as rock singer Cassandra in 1991 film ‘Wayne’s World’ cemented her status as a sex symbol, reprising the role in the sequel, ‘Wayne’s World 2’ released in 1992. She was named one of People’s 50 Most Beautiful Women in 1992. She is still active in TV and film and her latest television credit was on ‘Blue Bloods.’
3. Heather Locklear
Heather Locklear was famous in the ’90s for playing Amanda Woodward on ‘Melrose Place’ between 1993 and 1999, receiving four Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress in a Drama consecutively. She was also named one of People’s 50 Most Beautiful People in 1994 and in 2001. Locklear was recently in the news for assaulting her boyfriend and threatening to shoot the police.
4. Lara Flynn Boyle
Lara Flynn Boyle famously played Donna Hayward on cult television series ‘Twin Peaks’ between 1990 and 1991. She was the ADA Helen Gamble between 1997 and 2003 on ‘The Practice,’ a role that garnered her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress. She has remained out of the spotlight in recent years.
5. Rose McGowan
Rose McGowan first received attention when she played Amy Blue in dark comedy ‘The Doom Generation.’ Later, in 1997, she played Tatum Riley in the cult classic horror film ‘Scream’ alongside Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox. McGowan also famously played Paige Matthews in the supernatural drama series ‘Charmed.’ Lately, she has been in the news for accusing Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein of rape, detailed in her memoir ‘Brave.’
6. Demi Moore
Demi Moore’s box office successes in the nineties included Golden Globe-nominated ‘Ghost,’ ‘A Few Good Men,’ ‘Indecent Proposal,’ and the notoriously bad ‘Striptease,’ which made her the highest paid actress in history as she was offered $12.5 million for her role in the film. Moore has been playing a recurring character on ‘Empire’ since February 2017.
7. Cameron Diaz
Cameron Diaz burst into the spotlight with her roles in ‘The Mask,’ ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding,’ and ‘There’s Something About Mary.’ Ever since the release of the film adaptation ‘Annie’ in 2014, Diaz has been on a hiatus from acting in films, claiming that all the traveling has taken a toll on her health.
8. Jenny McCarthy
Jenny McCarthy kicked off her career as a model for Playboy magazine in 1993, eventually being named ‘Playmate of the Year.’ Using her fame as a nude model, she kickstarted her television and film career. She was recently on ‘The View’ and now has her own SiriusXM show ‘Dirty, Sexy, Funny with Jenny McCarthy.’
9. Katie Price (Jordan)
Katie Price (Jordan) began her career as a model, and gained notoriety for her surgically enhanced chest. She has regularly modeled for British Playboy, Page 3, Maxim, Esquire, and Vogue among other magazines. Price has frequented reality television shows and in 2015 she won the fifteenth series of Celebrity Big Brother.
10. Anjelica Huston
Anjelica Huston turned heads with her sultry portrayal of the family matriarch, Morticia Addams, in the 1991 film ‘The Addams Family.’ She was also famous for her roles in 1990’s ‘The Witches’ and the blockbuster film ‘Ever After: A Cinderella Story’ that starred Drew Barrymore. Her last television appearance was in the film ‘The Watcher in the Woods’ directed by Melissa Joan Hart.
